At the 2024 Â鶹ÊÓƵ ONE Sales Conference and Trade Show, Â鶹ÊÓƵ employees came together to help combat food insecurity across the country, raising $7,627 for the nonprofit, .
The morning after the fundraiser, Move for Hunger Partnership Manager, Ashley Foree, was a guest on . During that conversation, Ashley explained the scope of the need and how Move for Hunger is working to help fight food insecurity and food waste:
“More than forty million Americans struggle to put food on the table, and one in five children in this country go to bed hungry every night. There are a lot of great food banks out there doing amazing work, but they need more food. We work with apartment communities, who partner with us to collect quality, nonperishable food. We come pick up the food and distribute it to local food banks, who give it to those in need within their communities.”
Ashley says Move for Hunger’s mission began with one person choosing to step up and make a difference. “While working with his family’s moving company, our founder, Adam Lowy, noticed something: When people move out of an apartment, they often leave food behind. A lot of that food ends up in the garbage. Adam knew food banks could use those resources, and he had a way to deliver them, so he asked apartment communities to hold onto that food, and he arranged to pick it up and deliver it to food banks. That was back in 2009 and Move for Hunger has continued to grow. Today, we’re active in all fifty states and Canada.”
Â鶹ÊÓƵ Director of Marketing Cynthia Lovely says Â鶹ÊÓƵ employees look forward to every opportunity to help Move for Hunger:
“We are super excited to partner with Move for Hunger, supporting their efforts to fight food insecurity and waste. Adam and his team are efficient and effective, making connections with local multifamily communities across the country, getting quality nonperishable food where it’s needed most and doing it fast. We value this partnership, and our employees are proud to support their efforts.”
